Birgitta is an accomplished painter and printmaker who has exhibited in the Summer Exhibition at the Royal Academy. Born in Sweden and brought up in Brazil, she currently lives in Kent, UK.

This course is back in 2016 by popular demand. Birgitta is an excellent and supportive tutor, with the desire to encourage her students to explore and be curious about this seductive process. The 'Quote' for the course will be "Play, play, try-it-and-see, then play!" She will bring the specific media and paper necessary, and we will have a large and a smaller press.

Your experience will include:

  • a demo on preparing your paper but Bi will prepare yours in advance to facilitate more play time!
  • a demo mixing  the odour free ink which is a delight to use, as it cleans up with water
  • beside making a wide variety of plates you will learn how to varnish them
  • a demo of cleaning the plates to preserve them

  • Baby wipes
  • Varnish ( I will let you know what make nearer the time)
  • Disposable gloves
  • PVA painted lace and string , Watered down PVA then dried.
  •  Dried  and pressed plant materials
  • Threads, low profile source material. textured wall paper and wall papers etc
  • Fabrics  Calico, Canvas, Stiff Silk, Cotton so most fabrics with body. There will be a selection to buy in the Studio too

Please note :

It is important to wear sturdy, flat, rubber-soled sensible shoes with good support. (you’ll be standing a great deal and the floor is concrete).
